La Plata was my first summit of 2015! We summited June 18th at 10:30. We summited the Northwest Ridge, and were the only people on the trail.
Crossing these logs can be scary but it's a fun way to start an adventure. Poles come in handy here 😎
Perfect weather!
There was still quite a bit of snow above tree line, but it had rained the last two days making the snow really compact, and we did not have to post hole as much as I had expected!
Choosing the view is always a fun decision. I chose a view that shows the Elks off in The distance to the right.
I was excited to have set up for painting, painted and cleaned up all within an hour. All of the practice paintings I did last winter definitely paid off. It's going to be a great summer!!
